HOW TO WRITE A DISSERTATION
When you are finishing your Ph.D. level, you are obliged to confirm it with your own research – dissertation. In order to create the most appropriate thesis, you have to know a few basic rules to avoid unnecessary mistakes. Here are a few writing tips on how to make your dissertation look great.
Method 1: Acquiring Appropriate Skills
Making a research is not always enough to complete your final paper. You have to describe it properly and make your language sound officially and with academic flavor. Your style should coincide with what you are writing about and avoid colloquial speech. Otherwise, even though your research will be great, due to the inability to use necessary language, you can easily fail to finish you dissertation.
TIME MANAGEMENT SKILLS
Writing a thesis often takes your time during classes, when you have to prepare for sessions as well as progress in writing your paper. Thus, all these tasks make it hardly possible to get enough sleep and rest. This is a major mistake while writing a dissertation. The inability to have enough rest makes you brain exhausted and unable to work. So, in order to avoid energy drain, make yourself relax before jumping into writing.
COPING WITH STRESS
Similar to lack of sleep, stress prevents you from working efficiently. Being not able to get rid of stress during writing your dissertation will not let you finish it accordingly. A few simple things can make you feel happier and help you make your stress go away. Try working out, watching films, reading books, painting – anything that you enjoy doing apart from writing and teaching.
Method 2: Perceive your Audience
WORKING WITH YOUR SUPERVISOR
Your supervisor is like your second mom for the time of writing. Be sure that you understand him/her well and have no misunderstandings while preparing your thesis. He/she is more experienced, so listen to him/her carefully because every piece of advice that he/she gives is valuable.
ANTICIPATE YOUR COMMITTEE
Analyze all the committee members to understand them well and what could be interesting for them. The areas they are experts in must be thoroughly studied by you and discussed in your thesis. You should focus on the methods they approve and value, but try to avoid what they really do not appreciate. Be attentive to the committee and you will have a great feedback.
PREPARE FOR YOUR COLLEAGUES
You are only a candidate, not a Ph.D. already, so you should remember about your future colleague-professors. They are a part of your future academic world, and making them interested in your thesis will help you greatly to get on track with them. Think about their preferences and include them into your dissertation.
CARE ABOUT THE READER
What can be more important than making readers happy. Even though, you are preparing the paper for entering the professional academic world, your work will still be read and analyzed by pedestrian students over and over again. Try to consider this while writing and keep this in mind while presenting.
